Obituary of Claude Joseph Racicot
Claude Joseph Racicot, 74, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, after a short but strong fight with cancer. He was born on January 2, 1948, in St. Vital Clermont Quebec. He was the son of the late Doris and Therese Racicot. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy (née Hawco), his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brother of Norm, Claudette, Norma and Meme. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dear friend Donny Simpson. Predeceased by his sister Raymonde.
Claude worked hard over the years, as a truck driver for 25 years with MacMillion Bloedel. After the company closed shop, he became a part of the team at Zwierschke Trucking and finished off as a trucker “10/4” with Cotton Inc. before retiring at the age of 70. He was a hockey lover; you could find him at the Welland arena every Sunday cheering on the Welland Jr. B’s loud and proud. A die-hard Montreal Canadians fan. He cheered on the Buffalo Bills every Sunday before he left for hockey. Jeff Gordon was his Nascar race favourite. Claude was well known in the community, by what felt like everyone. He was also a taxi driver and pizza delivery guy when he wasn’t slugging at his regular 9 to 5 job. He worked hard through life, but never complained. He always said, “You don’t get what you want in life sitting around”. He loved fishing, playing pool, a good game of euchre and sitting by the fire with a glass of wine.
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
He will be missed but never forgotten.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 827 East Main Street, Welland on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations made, in honour of his granddaughter Kendall, to Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy Ontario or Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario would be greatly appreciated by the family.
