Cremation Services
The biggest misconceptions about cremation are that there can't be a visitation or funeral service involved and that traditional funeral homes do not offer simple cremation as an option in their list of services.
There are many options available to you when it comes to honoring and celebrating your loved ones life, even if the choice is cremation. Whether it is formal or informal, traditional or simplified, what we have grown accustomed to or off the beaten path, a celebration in any form provides an opportunity for family and friends to gather and support each other in taking the first steps of their healing journey.
While some families prefer to have a simple cremation with no celebration, others choose to have a full traditional visitation and funeral service prior to the cremation and many families decide on having a visitation and celebration of life with the cremated remains present.
For a cremation you will need to select an urn and choose whether to bury, entomb, scatter or keep the cremated remains at home with you for the final disposition.
The grieving process does not end when the celebration of life does. Often times the services are just the first steps on the healing and recovery journey. It can be hard for the bereaved to return to their regular routines after the service is over. Burial or entombment can give friends and family a permanent place to visit when they need help feeling connected to their loved one who has passed. It serves as a focus for their memory and provides a private space for reflection and peace. It can also serve as a location for family and friends to commemorate important occasions and can help make it easier to cope on meaningful dates like birthdays and anniversaries. As the years pass a permanent resting place or memorial can also become a link to the past for younger generations who may not have had the opportunity to meet the departed loved one during their lifetime.
