Obituary of Helen Boilard

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Helen Boilard (née Szpak) announce her passing on January 11th, 2022, at the Foyer Richelieu, Welland, in her 85th year.  She leaves behind her beloved and devoted husband of 64 years, Lionel “Lefty”. Forever in the hearts of her children; Ray (Susan) and Nancy.  She was a devoted Nana to her 3 grandchildren; Raymond, Dianna, and Nevaeh and her great-grandchild Dominic. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Doris Dostie (FL) and Yolande Labrie (QC), brothers-in-law Normand Boilard (Madeleine) and Carl Solohub, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Pauline and Kaeton Szpak, brother Eugene “Jim” Szpak and his wife Mary, and her sister Anne Solohub.

Helen will be remembered for her joy of cooking, reading, card playing and her long career as a secretary at the Welland Hospital. The family would like to thank the staff at the Foyer Richelieu for their wonderful and compassionate care, as well as Dr. Kundi.

WELLAND FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE has been honored with caring for Helen and her family. Following Helen’s wishes, her family has gathered, and cremation taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Foyer Richelieu, Église du Sacré-Coeur or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
