Obituary of Yvan Paul Dionne
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Yvan Dionne on July 7th, 2021, at the age of 62. Loving husband of Sue (Bernier) Dionne, wife of 40 years. Cherished father of Jeff (Jennifer), Jenny (Greg) and Jamie (Kalena). Loving grandfather of Jackson and Madison Dionne. He will be sadly missed by his mother Ghislaine Dionne and his brothers and sister, Rene (Liz) Dionne, Joanne (Mike) Boisvert, Dan (Andrea) Dionne as well as by his brother-in-law Paul (Linda) Bernier and sister-in-law Jo-Anne (Andre) D’amboise. He was also an amazing uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father George Dionne, mother and father-in-law Madeleine and Regent Bernier also his Nephew Robert Dionne. He will be missed by his furry friend Lola.
Yvan retired from General Motors at the age of 50. He always enjoyed spending his time watching his kids and grandkids whether it was a Sunday BBQ, a special occasion or any sporting event, he cherished every moment. He always had a real zest for life and could light up any room. When Yvan was around, everyone knew they were in for a great time whether he was cracking jokes, singing or dancing. One of Yvan’s true enjoyments was travelling with his wife. Yvan was an avid Bruins and Vikings fan and would let everyone know the score. You would often find Yvan floating in the pool, pretending to be the airport traffic control, when he wasn’t floating he could be found, on the golf course, fishing and working in the yard.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME 827 East Main Street, Welland on Tuesday, July 13th, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A private funeral service will be held. Those that attend are required to wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines. The funeral home’s capacity is at 25% and lining-up and cycling of guests will be managed by the funeral home staff both indoors and outdoors. A private family Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Rob Dionne Memorial Fund or The Mark Preece family house in honour of Yvan would be greatly appreciated by the family.
