Obituary of Rita Gauthier

Born in Sturgeon Falls, ON. November 8, 1926 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Foyer Richelieu, Welland on August 12, 2016 in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband René Gauthier (July 31, 2011). Loving mother of Denis (Janie), Terry (Sue), Diane Fraipont (Del), Jackie Sheptenko (Wayne) and Louise Pfeiffer (Geoff). Our special times with her will be greatly missed. Loving grandmother to Justin (Nancy), Joel (Wendy), Jordan (Tanya), Maurice, Patrick (Maddie), Renée (Bobby), Eric (Susie), Heather (John), Brandon (Stacey), Grant and John. Great grandmother to Peyton, Carson, Meryk, Nate, Xavier, Achilles, Isabella, Ryleigh, Quinn, Cooper, Jasmine, Weston and Bria. Survived by her brother Albert. Predeceased by her sisters Emma and Cécile and brothers Leo, René, Armand and Don as well as son-in-law Richard Lapointe. Rita loved family times at her home and always had open arms and a big heart. She loved playing cards, bowling and enjoyed many great summers at her cottage in Bancroft with family. She was the rock that kept her family together. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Welland Funeral Home, 827 East Main Street, Welland on Sunday, August 14th, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in Église Sacré Coeur on Monday, August 15th, 2016 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Private interment will take place at a later dater. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Fonds Foyer Richelieu or Église Sacré Coeur would be appreciated by the family. Many thanks to the caring and loving nursing staff at Foyer Richelieu. To all the special PSW's that cared for her, you were her guardian angels. Thank you to the kitchen staff & management for making sure the family was comfortable at this special time of need. Rita will be missed by many. Although she had Alzheimer's, she always had a smile for those she loved.
