Obituary of Margaret Birkenheier
It is with broken hearts that we announce Margaret's passing at the Welland Hospital on November 5th, 2016 at the age of 95.
Beloved wife of the late Paul Birkenheier. Margaret will be sadly missed by her sister Helen Demers. Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, great great nieces & nephews, her sister-in-law Maryanne Oswald, Ray Dixon and family, as well as family in Slovakia. Predeceased by her parents; Anthony and Gizella Oswald and step-mother Teresa, her daughter Patricia, her brothers Carl Oswald and Paul Oswald and her sister Ida Barron.
Born in Gnazda (Hniezdne) Slovakia, Margaret greatly influenced each and every generation of her family. She was highly principled, yet tremendously loving. She was extremely intelligent, but could disseminate knowledge through fascinating discourse, constructive banter and an unmatchable wit. She enjoyed the finer things in life, but worked hard for everything she owned. Establishing solid, genuine, and caring relationships was her forte.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Welland Funeral Home 827 East Main Street, Welland, Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 from 11 a.m. until service time in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. A private interment will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations by cheque to the Heart & Stroke Foundation will be appreciated by the family.Charitable donations may be made to:
