Obituary of Thérèse Brisson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother Thérèse Brisson (nee. Lamontagne) on January 5th, 2017 at the age of 89. Survived by her loving and devoted husband of 69 years Cyprien Brisson. Cherished mother of Linda (late Claude Tisi), Suzanne (Brian Hollingsworth), Lise Brisson and Alain (Kim) Brisson. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Melody, Scarlet, Jeremy, Derek, Amy, Shane, Brandon, Tyler, Brett, Kayla and Shalyn. She also leaves behind eleven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by nieces and nephew and many friends. Predeceased by her parents Eva and Francois Lamontagne, brothers Nelson, Wildy, Roger and sister in-law Marie Lamontagne. Survived by her sister Marguerite (Ron Putman) and sister in-law Rolande Lamontagne. Thérèse will be fondly remembered by all for her friendly nature and heart of gold, always thinking of others, giving and lending a hand to each and everyone. She loved travelling and visited many places and countries alongside her husband Cyprien and others. She easily made friends anywhere and everywhere she went. Hosting and entertaining was her forté. She was notorious for organizing social functions in Florida where she developed many long lasting friendships. Thérèse thoroughly enjoyed dancing with Cyprien and was a member of "Vive la Joie", a french folk dance group for many years. But her true passion was her family. She took such pride and joy in her kitchen; cooking, baking and spending time with everyone. Her "crêpes" and "tortières" will be missed by all but she will be forever remembered with love. A special thank you to Denise Cruz, mom's new found friend and roommate for the past six months at the ILTC in Welland. A huge thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the ILTC for your loving care of mom during her time there. We will remember and cherish with deep respect and appreciation your kindness and generosity towards mom. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Welland Funeral Home 827 East Main St., Welland, Sunday January 8th, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Eglise Sacré- Coeur on Monday January 9th, 2017 at 10 a.m with cremation will follow. Inurnment of ashes will take place on Wednesday January 11th at Woodlawn Cemetery on Woodlawn Road. As an expression of sympathy, donations to CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) or Eglise Sacré-Coeur would be greatly appreciated. Service Information
