Obituary of Giuseppina Gallo

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at the Welland Hospital on Wednesday, April 19th, 2017 Giuseppina Gallo (nee Notarianni) of Welland passed away in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Antonio Gallo (2008). Loving mother of Agostino (Bonnie) and Rose (Joe) Nicotera. Nonna will be sadly missed by her 5 grandchildren; Anthony (Julie), Teresa (Rob Kish), Paul (Julie), George (Elena) and Anthony (Shane). Cherished "Big Nana" of 8 great grandchildren; Amanda, Samantha, Elizabeth, Ian, Gavin, Alessandro, Gianluca and Giorgia. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Angelo and Rosina Notarianni and 4 siblings; Franceschina Paola, Marietta Giampa, Pietro Notarianni and Antonio Notarianni. Born in Accaria Serrastretta, Pr. Catanzaro, Italy in 1921, Giuseppina and Antonio moved with their family from Italy to Welland in 1956 where she worked at Wabasso Cotton Mill for many years. She was a very active member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church. Big Nana enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her great grandchildren LOVED her meatballs. The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME 827 East Main Street, Welland, Friday, April 21st, 2017 from 4 - 9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew the Apostle Church on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017 at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Pleasantview Memorial Gardens.
