Obituary of Maurice Raby

Obituary It is with sorrow we announce the passing of Maurice Raby at the Welland Hospital on March 18th, 2018 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of the late Lucie Raby 2007 (nee Labrie). Loving father of Gérard Raby (Jody), the late Normand (the late Aletha) Raby, Monique (Earl Boyd), Murielle (Craig Douglas), Denise (Jeff Lucken) and Pierrette Raby. He will be fondly remembered by his 8 grandchildren; Alex and Rob Chernish, Tanya and Sabrina Raby, Michelle, Dawn and Lindsay Brauweiler, Peter-Michael Raby and 2 great grandchildren; Sasha Chernish and Patrick Paré. Brother-in-law of Diana Raby and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Georgianna (nee Simoneau) Raby, 10 sisters and 5 brothers. Mr. Raby was born in Lyster, Québec in 1925. While in Québec, he took on many roles; including woodsman (lumberjack, cook, heavy equipment) and worked in tobacco fields prior to settling in Welland in 1949. He committed the rest of his working career at Page Hersey for 35 years. Maurice was quite the jokester, he loved spending quality time with his family travelling and camping. He enjoyed playing cards, especially a good game of euchre. In his quieter times, Maurice would enjoy birdwatching. He was particularly interested in observing the Canadian Geese. The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME 827 East Main Street, Welland on Thursday, March 22nd, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 23rd, 2018 at Paroisse Sacré Coeur at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Ronald McDonald House will be appreciated by the family.
