Obituary of Jack Poitras
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jacques Poitras on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Lisa Poitras (née Nadeau). Devoted father of Elaine (Gary) Mounsteven and Mark (Laura) Poitras. Papa will be cherished forever by his 2 grandchildren; Cassidy and Hayden. Jack will be missed by his brother Robert (Noreen), his many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Predeceased by his loving parents; Romeo & Blanche Poitras, as well as his siblings; Romuald “Ronnie”, Jean Guy, Donald, Jeannine, Rolland, Fernand, Fernande, and Erma.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Sister Louise, his nurse Jennifer, and the entire staff at Hotel Dieu Shaver for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.
Keeping with Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family invites relatives and friends to join them for a time of sharing memories of Jack at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St., Welland, on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held at 3:30 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
