Obituary of Monique Marie Fournier
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Monique Fournier (née Roy) on November 18, 2024 at the age 97. Beloved wife of the late Emeric Fournier. Cherished mother of Angel Fournier McGuire (late Henri) and Alan (Susan). Monique was the second eldest of 16 children. Dear sister of Jean-Luc (Monique), Rejean (late Blandine), Bertrand (Liette), Jean-Marc (late Jackie), Ginette (Jean Rock), Suzanne (late Edward), and her in laws; Raymond (Louise), Marianne (late Jules), Marielle (late Gerry). Monique will be sadly missed by her step-grandchildren; Phillip Jr (Jennifer) and James (Angie). She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and step-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents; Henri & Lucie Anna Roy and her 9 siblings; Denis (Lucille), Mario, Claire (Paul), Gaetanne, Jeannine (Gaston), Claudette (Wilfred), Lise (Leo), Lucille (Benoit), Gaston and her 7 in laws; Noella (Gerry), Fernand (Marthe), Real (Claudette), Jean Paul (Yvette), Jules (Gisele), Gisele (Lionel) and Gilberte (Joe).
Mom loved her alone time spending countless hours reading and praying. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Plymouth Cordage and Hotel Dieu Shaver for their compassionate care.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St., Welland, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Église Sacré Coeur, at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Fonthill Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Out of the Cold and Welland and District Humane Society in Monique’s memory would be greatly appreciated by the family.
