Obituary of Marie Antoinette Plamondon
Antoinette (“Tony”) Marie Plamondon (née Leblanc)
January 13, 1951 – October 31, 2024
Antoinette Marie Plamondon, known to many as “Tony,” passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 13, 1951, in Moncton, New Brunswick, she was the beloved daughter of Anita Gautreau and Edward Leblanc. One of seven siblings, she remained close to her family, visiting Moncton every summer with her children while they were growing up. These visits brought cherished days spent at the beach, enjoying fish and chips from Deluxe, and reconnecting with family and friends over card games and laughter.
In the early 70’s, Tony moved from New Brunswick but kept her Moncton roots strong, especially through these summer visits. She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Martin Plamondon, whom she married on July 2, 1968. Together, they raised three children, Brenda Heron (Matthew), Joann Pavlovcak (Niki), and Gary Plamondon. Tony and Martin shared a love for travel, adventuring across the eastern U.S., from Cape Canaveral to New Orleans, and making a memorable visit to Elvis's home in Nashville—an especially meaningful stop for Tony, who was a devoted Elvis fan. Closer to home, they enjoyed countless hours biking around Welland and neighboring towns, as well as bowling together, celebrating many wins and meeting good friends.
Tony also remained close to her siblings: Doris White, Edward Leblanc (Theresa), Jeanne Dupuis, Donald Leblanc (Susan), Emma Leblanc (Yvon), and Theresa Richards (Ronnie). She also leaves behind many treasured nieces and nephews, including Victoria, Jimmy, Allison, Derrick, Christopher, Kyla, Cody, Jason, Stephen, Anita, Rhonda, and Jeffery, as well as her seven cherished grandchildren: Jessica, Katherine, Julia, Mitchell, Lexie, Shae and Tane.
Tony was known for her spirited personality, her warmth toward others, and her remarkable knack for remembering birthdays and anniversaries. She always made each family member feel special, never missing the chance to send a card or share a heartfelt message. Loved bowling with Martin and friends, she celebrated her team’s “C” Division Playoff Championship win in the 2016-17 season and was honored with the Bud Hanson Memorial Award for Sports Person of the Year in 2014-15.
Tony’s community involvement included her years as a Beaver Cub leader, where her warmth and leadership impacted young lives. She later built lasting friendships with colleagues and customers alike during her four years at McDonald’s and fifteen years at Tim Horton’s. Her Tim’s order was well-known: a large coffee with half hot water, four creams, and a BLT with extra bacon—a small reflection of her unique spirit and warmth.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St, Welland, ON. Following Antoinette’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Tony’s kindness, humor, and resilience will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her family and friends will carry her memory forward, inspired by her courage, joyful spirit, and the love she shared.
