Obituary of Maurice Rouillier
ROUILLIER, Maurice “Moe” – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Maurice Rouillier, on October 19, 2024, at 91 years of age, with family by his side, at Royal Rose Place in Welland. Beloved husband of Diane Rouillier (née Therrien). Cherished father of Marcel (Manon) of Welland, Linda Poirier (René) of Fraserville, Lise Learn (Edward) of Fonthill and the late Suzanne Lockhart (Robert) of Ponoka, Alberta. He will be missed by his grandchildren Nancy, Daniel, Richard, Nicole, Danniel, Renée, Alexandre, Ty, Peyton, Stephanie and Kayla as well as his 23 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Hailey, Hudson, Hayden, Xavier, Jayden, Riley, Chloe, Lorelai, Tayah, Sophie, Emilie, Charlotte, Madelyn, Adèle, Alivia, Sawyer, Harley, Brooks, Lincoln, Kayleigh, Hayden, Owen, Hudson, and Hunter. He will also be missed by his in-laws Gilles Therrien (Irène), Sr. Lise Therrien, Sr. Isabelle Therrien, and Jean-Guy Therrien (Kathy), nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Alexandre and Alice Rouillier (née Bilodeau), granddaughter Tyra Learn, great-granddaughter Hope Chalmers and great-grandson Spencer Poirier, as well as brother-in-law Claude and his wife Cécile Therrien.
Maurice moved to Welland when he was 16 years old where he began working at Wabasso. He worked at the Cotton Mill for 29 years where he became foreman and during his tenure, he obtained his certification as a Millwright. He then worked at TRW for 15 years until his retirement. Dad was an entrepreneur. He was a visionary. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was always available to provide a helping hand and support to family and friends. We all shared great memories with Dad at the cottage on Cordova Lake. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Royal Rose. Special thanks to Jill, Sean, Ali, Karine, Phil, David and Ryan, nurses, Kathie and Megan for their years of compassionate care for our Dad.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St, Welland, ON. A family service will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy donations made tothe Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region would be greatly appreciated by the family.
