Obituary of Violet Mary Pauline Smith

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our cherished daughter, Violet Smith, who left us far too soon at the tender age of 9. Violet's bright spirit and infectious joy touched the lives of everyone around her.

Violet was the beloved daughter of Wayne Smith and Christa Besaw. She was a cherished granddaughter to Patricia and Wayne Smith & Darlene and George Wellman. As a loving niece, she brought much happiness to Richard, Stephanie, and Jennifer.

Violet’s sense of humour was second to none, she loved to laugh; whether it was to hear a good joke, see a funny face or by playing tricks on friends and family. Her vibrant personality shone through in everything she did—whether feeding the giraffes at Safari Niagara, creating crafts to give as gifts, watching her favorite cartoons like Curious George, Peppa Pig, Bluey and My Little Pony, or simply delighting in the beauty of flowers. Her laughter and curiosity were gifts to all who knew her.

Violet’s mother was blessed with the unwavering support of her special friends, Karen, Crystal, Sarah, Tracy, Helen, Jason and Amanda whose kindness and strength were a beacon during this challenging time. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Miss. Doan, Mrs. Armstrong, and Mr. Burns from McKay Public School, and to all of Violet’s dear friends and classmates who loved her deeply.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. A celebration of Violet’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 6, at 11am in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ronald McDonald House in Violet’s honor, to support other families in need during difficult times.

Though her time with us was brief, Violet’s memory will forever bloom in our hearts. May her gentle spirit continue to inspire and bring warmth to those who knew and loved her.
