Obituary of Robert Lansky
Robert Lansky, “Bob” “Bobby”, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Welland hospital at the age of 90. He married his lifelong love, Megan (née Jones) Lansky, on November 5, 1963. He will be dearly missed by their children; Pam, Tim and Greg (Heidi). Beloved grandpa of Jessica (Shawn). Cherished brother of John (Patricia) Lansky.
Bob was born on December 20, 1933, to (the late) John and (the late) Fanny Lansky in Welland, ON.
Bob was a lifelong lover of music. He played the accordion and worked as a professional musician in his own band in the 1960’s and 1970’s playing numerous weddings, parties and New Year’s Eve celebrations. He continued to play well into his late 80’s and most recently with the Jimmy Marando Swing Band.
Bob was an avid bowler and golfer. He could be seen on the links as lately as just a few years ago, where you could find him lamenting the fact that he couldn’t quite “hit the ball as far as he used to”.
Bob spent the bulk of his working career in the automotive business and was a part-owner/operator of Welland Automotive for many years. He loved his work and never fully retired until the age of 75.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE. In accordance with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in the near future. Donations made in honour of Bob to the Alzheimer’s Society of Niagara or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
