Obituary of Huguette Yolande Guillemette
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Huguette Guillemette passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the age of 79. Huguette was born in 1944 and spent her life dedicated to her family, friends, and community. She loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren, baking, and gardening. Huguette was a nurse (RPN) and started working at the Annex on Riverside Drive in the late 1960’s, and then transferred to the Woollcott Wing at the Welland Hospital in the 1970’s. She enjoyed her work because it reflected who she was at her core; a kind, compassionate and caring person and this is the reason she will be truly missed. The love that Huguette exuded for her family, friends and community was always felt when you were in her presence. This love is now and will always be a part of us and will remain in our hearts forever.
Huguette is predeceased by her husband André Guillemette (Dec. 23, 2019). Beloved mother of Alain Guillemette (Nathalie), Carole Guillemette (Tony Franco), and Patrick Guillemette (Ann). Cherished grandmother of Grant Guillemette and Kevin Guillemette. She will be sadly missed by her brother Claude Bédard (Jeanine) as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to join the family at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & RECEPTION CENTRE 827 East Main St., Welland on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 2-4p.m. & 6-8p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 11a.m. at Église Sacré-Coeur 72 Empire Street, Welland. Followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to The Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
