Obituary of Edgar Pellerin
Edgar Joseph Pellerin, 99, of Welland, Ontario, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at Foyer Richelieu in Welland.
Edgar is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 75 years, Simone Pellerin (née Sabourin); his sons, Roger and Réjean; and his daughter, Denyse. He is survived by his sisters, Carmelle Dubé and Elianne St. Denis. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved parents; his daughter, Rachelle; and his sons, Jean and Claude.
Born in Verner, Ontario, to Albert and Agnes Pellerin (née Demers), Edgar was raised on a dairy farm alongside his 14 siblings, where they hand-milked cows and learned the value of hard work from an early age. At the early age of 14, he worked in logging camps before settling in Welland in the early 1940s. There, he began working in the cotton mill, where he helped make ropes used to anchor ships. He also contributed to the construction of the Welland Hospital, the Welland Canal and built several homes throughout the Welland area. During the winter months, Edgar worked for Diffin, delivering diesel fuel to more than 2,500 families across the region for over 40 years.
Edgar cherished summer family vacations. For more than three decades, he travelled the Trans-Canada Highway by van, truck, and motorhome, making countless stops to visit family and friends along the way. A true social butterfly, Edgar had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever life took him.
Edgar will be deeply loved, fondly remembered, and greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The family invites friends and relatives to celebrate Egar’s life on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTER, 827 East Main St., Welland, ON. A church service will be held at Église Sacré-Coeur on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
