Obituary of Nicole Denise Côté
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our daughter and sister Nicole Côté, age 43 on July 10, 2026 at the Niagara Falls General Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in 1983 to Ray and Denise Côté at the Welland County Hospital, Nicole resided her life in the Niagara Region.
Nicole’s life was marked by her strength, her kindness, and the quiet courage she carried through every challenge. She had a gentle way of making others feel seen, heard, and care for, and her presence brought comfort to everyone around her.
Cherished daughter of Ray and Denise Côté. She leaves behind her brother Michel and his wife Jenna (Lacroix). She will also be fondly remembered by her aunts and uncles, Russ (Anette), Robert Jr. (Joanne), Marlene (Tony), Jackie (Paul). Predeceased by her grandparents Robert Sr (ti-Bob), Madeleine (Maggie), Maurice (big Moe) and Claire as well as her Uncle Andy. Nicole will be remembered by the rest of her extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory, her laughter, and the warmth she brought into their lives.
Nicole grew up in Welland where she was active in a variety of sports including Welland soccer and basketball travelling teams. She attended a dance studio as well as figure skating. She participated in all high school sporting activities. She was also an equestrian horseback rider, competing in many horse shows including the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, where she won many championships with her beloved horse May.
Nicole graduated from Confederation High School finishing grade 13 and continued her path of learning attending Niagara College and graduating from the Police Foundation program. After a period of self-discovery Nicole realized her path lay elsewhere. She attended Sheridan College and graduated with honors from Social Service Worker in Gerontology.
Nicole had a deep love and passion for Disney and every year the family would embark on a trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth. Nicole enjoyed Halloween and Christmas and all the decorating and festivities they included.
Though her time was far too short, the impact she made will remain long after her passing.
You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
May she rest in peace.
Visitation will take place at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE on Saturday August 1, 2026 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m, with a funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. Donations in Nicole’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Foundation are sincerely appreciated by the family.
