Obituary of Ronald Raoul Demers
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Ronald Raoul Demers on Friday June 5, 2026, at the age of 69.
Ron was full of kindness and had a sense of humour that enriched the lives of all who knew him. He was a proud and caring father to Tyler and Kaylee McIntosh (Kyle) and a cherished grandfather to Madeleine and Paisley, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Rick (Dorothy), Rene (Marilyn), Lise (Gaston), and Lorraine (George),as well as his brother-in-law, Syd and many nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle Chewy. He was predeceased by his parents, Lucien and Edith Demers, and his sister, Lucille, all of whom he held close in his heart throughout his life.
Also left to cherish his memory is his loving partner, Debbie Rivers. Together they shared countless memories with friends, filled with joy, laughter, and music.
Ron had a deep love for sports, especially hockey, and was a devoted fan of the Montreal Canadiens. Whether watching a game with family and friends or discussing the latest season, his enthusiasm for the sport was unmistakable. He also relished the cottage weekends and fishing trips that he used to take, finding great pleasure in spending time outdoors, where he enjoyed the peace and quiet of nature.
Above all else, Ron treasured time spent with his family. Family gatherings, celebrations, and simple moments together brought him his greatest happiness. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday August, 29, 2026 from 1-3p.m. at Mr. Mikes Steakhouse on Niagara Street in Welland. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the charity KidSport Canada (or your local chapter) in honor of Ron. KidSport Canada removes financial barriers for children to participate in sport, providing more possibilities for those children who typically would not have access to these opportunities.
