Obituary of Andrea Holmes

Andrea (Mary) Holmes, of Niagara Falls, ON, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, at the age of 54.

Warm, generous and full of laughter, Andrea made every house she entered feel like home. She loved spending time with family and friends and adored the many dogs who shared her life. There was always an open seat at her table and a home cooked meal waiting for anyone who stopped by—meals made with care, conversation and plenty of love. Andrea delighted in baking for those she cherished, lost herself in a good book, and was an avid Scrabble player who loved the friendly rivalry—more often than not, she won. She treasured the daily word jumble her father sent, a simple ritual that brought them close no matter the miles between them. Gardening was another of Andrea’s joys, a gentle hobby she carried on from her parents that brought color and comfort to her days.

Andrea is lovingly remembered by her father, George Holmes; her brother, Christopher Holmes (Sherri Branscombe); her nephews, CJ (Victoria Rimer) and Alex Holmes; and her aunts and uncles Loretta (Ron Keating), Carol (Bill Spencer) and Michael Delduca (Sandra), Dan McDonald, along with many cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia Holmes (Delduca); her grandparents, Myer and Louise Delduca (Aiello); her aunt Valerie McDonald (Delduca); and the many beloved dogs who brightened her life, including Kanga, Banjo, Suds, Cannonball, Vinnie, Nellie and Tucker. 

Thank you to the staff at Hospice Niagara for the compassionate care you gave Andrea in her final days. A special thank you to her angel Francis — your warmth, kindness, and joy brought comfort to Andrea and our family. We are deeply grateful.

Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice Niagara.
