GABRIELE FALVO
JULY 29,1931 – APRIL 9,2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gabriele, peacefully at Woodlands of Sunset, in Welland on April 9, 2026, in his 95th year.
Gabriele was predeceased by his loving wife Angela who he now joins in heaven. Gabriele will be dearly missed by his loving sons Michael Frank of Mississauga and Vincent Mario and wife Brenda of Welland, his seven cherished grandchildren Stephanie Inkster (Jason), Trepany Falvo (Adrian Miller), Matthew Falvo (Romina Kolodziejska), Mary-Grace Falvo (Steve Elgie), Bryce Falvo, Julia Walters (Jonathyn), and Stapley Falvo (Evan Culbert). He was a special Bisnonno to four great grandchildren Zachary and Chelsea Inkster, Gordon Walters, and Vesper Falvo.
Gabriele also is survived by his brother John (Rosemarie), sisters-in-law Lidia Falvo, Clara (Frank) Cimino, Grace Falvo, and Ida Marasco.
He also has many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, Italy, the USA, and Australia.
Predeceased by his parents Michele and Rosina (née De Grazia), brothers Basilio and Vittorio, brother-in-law Luigi Marasco, and sisters Maria (Raffaele) Molinaro and Graziella (Umberto) Maruca.
Gabriele was born in Decollatura, Province of Catanzaro, Italy. He moved to Canada in 1955 making the long sea voyage from Italy to Halifax, and then via train to Welland, with his wife Angela and infant son.
Gabriele always spoke fondly and was proud of his military training in Italy and the times he spent playing trumpet in the military band and in local marching bands.
He was employed by Christie’s Bakery for 29 years, then later worked for Commisso’s in Port Colborne. Gabriele loved to travel, especially to visit extended family and friends in Canada, the US and Italy. His love of gardening kept him busy in retirement and time spent with family was always a top priority.
He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know and love him.
The Falvo family would like to extend sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the dedicated staff, personal support workers, nurses and friends at Seasons Retirement, and at Woodlands of Sunset in Welland where he lived out his last days in dignity.
Family and friends are invited to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION and RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St., Welland. Sunday, April 12 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 13 at 11:00 am. The rite of committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery where he will be reunited with his beloved wife Angela.
