Loretta Cyopick

Obituary of Loretta Cyopick

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Loretta Cyopick (née Gairns), who left us peacefully on February 27, 2026 in her 87th year.

Loretta was predeceased by her late husband Stan Cyopick. Beloved mother of Nancy (Chris), Ken, and Wendy (Terry).

She was the proud grandmother (Gramma) of Carrie, Kassandra, Shawn, Barrett, Ryan, and Taylor, and great-grandmother to 9.

Loretta was the sister of Nelda (the late Dave) Walker, Mavis (the late Ron) Cloutier, Janice (Larry) Torzsas, Alice (Larry) Breeze, and Wendi (Nelson) Lindsey.

Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Alice Gairns, her daughter Janice, her granddaughter Mandy and her brothers Glen Gairns and Dennis (Stephanie) Gairns.

Born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan, Loretta spent most of her life in the Niagara region. She raised her children in Welland and was a resident of Fort Erie for over 30 years. Loretta found great joy in reading, cooking, word searches, and following politics. She also held a deep love for animals—a passion she inherited from her father. Those who knew her will also fondly remember her lifelong love for Elvis, whose music brought her much happiness.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St. Welland, ON. Keeping with Loretta’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held in the spring.

The family wishes to thank Niagara Health doctors and nurses for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Loretta’s name to the Canadian Lung Association would be greatly appreciated.
