Obituary of Manuel Pereira DeMelo
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Manuel “Manny” DeMelo on Friday Feburary 13, 2026 at the young age of 56 years old. Born on March 15 1969, in Toronto, Ontario, Manny grew up with dreams and determination that shaped the early chapters of his life.
Manny is survived by his beloved children, Hailey and Joshua De Melo, and their mother Terri De Melo. He is also survived by his mother, Irene De Melo; his siblings Irene (Tony) Pacheco, Steve (Sandra) De Melo, Shirley (Rui) Andrade and Fernanda (Dameion) Manohar; his nieces and nephews, Chris (Ashley) Pacheco, Michelle (Tony) Monteiro, Samantha Andrade, Nicholas (Sierra) Andrade, Christian De Melo, Victoria De Melo, Shane (Diane) Manohar, Dorger (Candice) Manohar, Eric (Keisha) Manohar, Raymond (Latisha) Manohar, Jesse Manohar and Leo Manohar; along with extended family members who hold their own memories of Manny. Manny was predeceased by his father, Manuel De Melo.
Over the years, Manny built a career in the construction industry, specializing in roofing and siding. Through hard work and persistence, he became well known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. He took pride in providing for his family and in the tangible results of the work he left behind.
Outside of his work, Manny found joy in traveling, especially when it meant spending meaningful time with family and friends. Whether near or far, those trips created shared memories and moments of connection that will not be forgotten. He had a love for golfing, not just for the game itself, but for the camaraderie it brought. Time spent on the golf course with friends, sharing stories, friendly competition, and plenty of laughter. It was something he truly enjoyed.
At home, he has a special affection for his two dogs, who brought him companionship and comfort. He loved them deeply and found simple happiness in their loyalty and presence.
Above all, he was a father. His children, Hailey and Joshua De Melo, were the most important part of his life. In his own way, he loved them deeply and carried great pride in the people they were becoming. Though life created distance and the path between them was not always easy, the bond between parent and child endures. His children will carry forward not only his name, but also the memories, lessons, and pieces of him that helped shape who they are.
Manny faced personal struggles that at times made connection difficult and life complicated. Like many, he carried burdens that were not always visible to others. Those who knew him throughout different seasons of his life remember his warmth, his sense of humor, his determination, and the moments when his true heart shone through.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE. A private service will be held for the family.
In honoring Manny’s memory, those who wish to do so are encouraged to hold their loved ones close and extend compassion to others who may be quietly carrying their own burdens.
If desired, donations may be made to Community Addiction Services of Niagara in honour of Manny would be appreciated by the family.
