Obituary of Jane Adriana Bouma-Hachey
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jane Bouma-Hachey on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026, at the St. Catharines hospital following a brief illness, with her beloved husband by her side.
Jane is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 52 years, Clifford Hachey. She is survived by her siblings, Elly (late Marc) and Peter (Leda). She will be forever cherished by her sisters-in-law Norma, Gemma and Betty, as well as her brother-in-law Jasper and numerous nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by her loving parents Gerard and Wilhelminia Bouma, her brothers Gerald (Gemma) and Hans (Betty), her sister Willie (Jasper), her sister-in-law Noreen and her brother-in-law Marc.
Born in 1946 in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, Jane immigrated to Canada with her family in 1954, settling in Bathurst, New Brunswick . She was raised and educated in Bathurst and began her successful career with Tower Jewellers. Following her marriage to her husband Clifford, the couple moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario where Clifford completed his university education and had a successful career in forestry. In 1984, they relocated to Welland, Ontario, following Clifford’s work transfer. There she had a successful career in accounting until her retirement.
Jane and Clifford were fortunate to retire in Niagara, making the most of their time together. They traveled extensively, spending the winter months in Florida and the summer at their cottage up north.
Jane was a voracious reader and also had a keen interest in all current events. In her later years, she enjoyed taking bus tours and always looked forward to her summer trips to Bathurst. She also took great pleasure in cooking and hosting dinners, especially with the company of her friends.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREAMTION AND RECEPTION CENTER, 827 East Main St. Welland, ON. Following Jane’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the charity of your choice is greatly appreciated by the family.
