Obituary of Angelina Digout
Digout, Angelina (née Burke)
After a life defined by love, kindness and family, our precious mother left us to be with her husband Victor (2005) in her 105th year on February 1, 2026, after a brief illness. She was born at River Bourgeois (Cape Breton) Nova Scotia on January 7, 1922. Loving Mom of eight children, Don (Bev), Robert (Sophie), Raymond (Joyce), Al (Faye), Gord (Rose), Gloria (Marcel, deceased), Laurie Meredith (Gus Livingston), Annette Laferriere (Clem). Survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, one sister, Monica McPhee of River Bourgeois, and many nieces and nephews who treasured her. Predeceased by her parents, 13 siblings, and her granddaughter, Rebecca Digout.
Preparing food for her family was one of Angie’s love languages, and she was famous for her apple pie, which nobody could duplicate. She loved spending sunny days outdoors on her garden swing surrounded by family, reading, making jigsaw puzzles, and colouring. She had a great sense of humour and home was often filled with laughter. She loved to reminisce about her childhood “down home” and always looked forward to her road trips to visit extended family there.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Scher and all the staff at the Port Colborne General Hospital Complex and Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and support, the paramedics for their gentle care of Mom, and all those who kept Angie in their thoughts and prayers.
A private family service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Welland Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. If desired donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation will be greatly appreciated by the family.
The sun will still shine, but it will seem a little less bright for all those who loved you.
