1967-2025
With heavy hearts we announce Carol Deschamps (née Asselin), 58, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded with love by her husband and two children on December 4, 2025, at Hospice Niagara - Walker House in Welland.
Beloved wife of Daniel Deschamps. Cherished mother of Raymond Deschamps (Jodi) and Chantal O’Howe (Kyle). Dear sister of Bob Asselin (Claire) and Diane Fortier (Kevin). Deeply loved by her father in-law and mother in-law Roland and Berthe Deschamps. Her legacy will be lovingly remembered by her 4 grandchildren Milo, Théo, Gordie and Marty. Predeceased by her beautiful parents Roland and Claudette (Lemay) Asselin and brother Andy Asselin.
Carol truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, listening to country music with her hubby, snuggling her dogs, rooting for the Buffalo Bills and spending lots of time with her grandchildren. Our tough cookie made a large impact on many people she crossed paths with during her time on earth. She became a true inspiration and legend during her fight against cancer the last 3 years of her life. She fought with every being in her body and never lost her sense of humour. She continued to make us smile and laugh right up until her final slumber.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful staff, nurses, PSW’s and Doctors at the Hospice Niagara - Walker House, Walker Family Cancer Centre, Juravinski Cancer Centre and The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. An extended thank you and great appreciation to Carol’s sister Didi, brother Bob, Aunt Sue and special nurse Jocelyne.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Welland Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre. The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, 827 East Main St, Welland, on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated to honor Carol’s life on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Eglise Sacre Coeur at 11AM.
The family kindly requests that donations in Carol’s memory be made to Hospice Niagara- Walker House or the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
