Obituary of Linda Jeanne Petit
We are devastated to announce the death of Linda Jeanne Petit (née Andrews). Linda died peacefully on October 4th after declining for several months from muscular dystrophy. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and her family, but especially by her husband Normand and her sister Marni. She is survived by an extended family including nieces, many cousins and her husband’s family who include his siblings Ginette Petit, Carolle Petit (Dr. Sandra Nuttall), Lise (Paul) Walker, Elaine (Rob) Coppens and his father Fernand (Ernestine) Petit, and several nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her parents and sister Michelle, her mother-in-law Emilienne, and brother-in-law Gaston.
Linda was born in Niagara Falls to Irvin Andrews and Gail Andrews (née McCarthy). She was devoted to her husband of 35 years and their many pets, to her family and to the many friends who knew her over the years. She was always kind, thoughtful and trusting and loved nothing more than to talk and laugh for hours with someone. Linda was lively and funny, fanciful and profound, creative, and possessed of a strong mind. She always knew what she wanted! Yet her strong will was tempered wonderfully by a pure spirit and sweet disposition that was full of compassion for everyone and everything. She especially loved animals and children.
Linda was a dancer in her youth and often spoke of those days with enthusiasm. She lived a life of passion and fun despite her medical challenges going back to childhood. In the 80’s she had a CB radio and broadcast as Black Cat. Twice a year, she excitedly counted down the days till the next Survivor series began. She also loved 70s and 80s sitcoms such as Three’s Company, Full House and Murder She Wrote. Linda was adept at jigsaw puzzles, card games and just about any craft imaginable. She could knit and play chess, and she loved to dress up for Hallowe’en. She and her husband enjoyed Comic Con conventions, going to Marineland and participating in the annual Zombie Walk. While Linda got along with just about everyone (she truly enjoyed people), she was not shy to voice her opinion when it really mattered. One topic that Linda was passionate about was food. Her favorite food show was Valerie’s Home Cooking, and her favorite recipes were Apple, Ham and Cheese Sliders on sweet rolls and Hot Potato Salad.
Linda is gone far too soon. Among her many plans and dreams for the future were more visits to her cousin’s farm, riding the carousel in Port Dalhousie once more and feeding the ducks at Dufferin Islands again. Most importantly, she wanted more time with her husband, her sister and the many people who loved her.
