In Loving Memory of Thérèse Samson (née Giguère)
July 30, 1928 – August 15, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thérèse Samson (née Giguère), who left us peacefully on August 15, 2025, at the age of 97.
Born on July 30, 1928, Thérèse was the beloved daughter of the late Alexandre Giguère and the late Eugénie Migneault. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Gérard Samson, with whom she shared many years of devotion, love, and family life. She is also predeceased by her 6 siblings.
Thérèse was a devoted mother to Guy (Kathy Pasto), Nelson (Cindy Wood), Linda Robertson (Naomi Brooks). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Lee-Stahr, Najjah, Rosa (Jake), Samara, Seth, and Lorien, and caring great-grandmother to Ava, Ari, and Zoe.
Thérèse lived her life with a spirit of adventure and compassion. She had a passion for travel, finding joy in discovering new places and connecting with people from all walks of life. Equally important to her was giving back—she dedicated countless hours to volunteer work, always ready to lend a helping hand in her community. Her life was a beautiful balance of exploration and service, guided by kindness, curiosity, and a deep love for others.
Visitation will be held at the Welland Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 19th, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Église Sacré-Cœur at 2:00 p.m.. Cremation will follow, with interment to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thérèse’s memory to the Cancer Society, a cause close to her heart.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will be cherished always.
