Obituary of Douglas Walter Evans

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Douglas Walter Evans announces his peaceful passing on July 31, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born in Welland, Ontario, on November 27, 1932, Doug lived a long and fulfilling life devoted to family, hard work, and simple joys. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.

Doug was a proud and cherished father to Bryon (Coleen), Colleen (Brian), Kelley (John), and Nancy (Willie). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: April (Milan), Casey (Ashley), Shawn (Amanda), Shannon (Brandon), Joshua (Claire), Jacob (Jane), Kristen (Jason), and Jeremy. His legacy lives on in his great-grandchildren: Ayden, Tyler, Easton, Kylee, Sierra, Sophia, and Aurora.

He is survived by his sisters, Carol McCauley and Wanda Austin and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Don, Dave, and Ross.

Doug built a strong and steady life through his work, spending 25 years at Switsons ( General Signal) and later 17 years at John Deere. In retirement, he found joy in  summers at Crotch Lake and winter escapes to Florida with his family.  Above all, Doug treasured time spent with his grandchildren, making lasting memories .

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St., Welland, ON. A private service will take place. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
