Obituary of Joseph Peter Tries

Joseph Peter Tries died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, June 1st due to diabetic complications. 

Born on January 18th, 1965 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Joe was the fifth of six children of the Late John and Rosanna (nee Carroll) Tries.   

He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving siblings:  Mary Vautour (Dan),   Ann Makarenko (Nick),  John (Jorge), Frank (Kelly) and Elizabeth Belfry (Dave). He will also be sadly missed by aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.   

Joe graduated with honours from DeVry Institute of Technology  in 1985 and worked in the electronic field for several years.  Due to health reasons, he left the tech field and took up market gardening in Ridgeville, Ontario. 

He loved being "on the land" and enjoyed the sounds of nature and growing and eating his own food.  Throughout his life, Joe was incredibly talented in anything mechanical, tool repairs, furniture making, wood carving , and creating beautiful lasting wooden ornaments and kitchen utensils. 

He enjoyed strumming his guitar and listening to classical music and jazz. He was an amazing cook mastering tasty soups and fresh vegetable stir-fries.   

Despite health setbacks, Joe managed to share his talents, and his warm heart and sense of humour. Many will remember his usual farewell greetings of "God bless you" in their encounters with him and/or his heartfelt appreciation for their service.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to Diabetes Canada or the Canadian Mental Health Association Niagara are greatly appreciated by the family. 

The family invites friends and relatives to THE WELLAND FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St. Welland for a visitation on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 12:00pm – 1:30pm and a service in the chapel at 1:30pm followed by internment at Doan’s Ridge Cemetery.
