Obituary of Jean Isobelle Lundy
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean Isobel Lundy (née Cope) on May 12, 2025, at Arbour Creek, at the age of 98. Jean has now been reunited with her beloved husband Bill (1988). She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Ada Cope, her brother Lloyd Cope, and her son-in-law Fred Speight.
Jean is lovingly remembered by her three children: Donna Speight, Wayne Lundy (Marion), and Darlene Cunningham (Rick). She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren—Jodi, Jill, Tim, Jason, Stacey, and Lindsay—and a cherished great-grandmother to Aiden, Solomar, Ruth, Alice, Ryan, Liam, Owen, Evan, Miray, and Sienna.
A lifelong resident of Crowland Township (Welland), Jean dedicated many years of her life working as a secretary at Stelco (Page Hersey), Tottrup and Associates, and other local firms.
Jean was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She cherished time spent with family and friends, especially enjoying cottage trips and traveling. Her commitment to her community and church was unwavering. Jean played the organ for Crowland Presbyterian Church for many years and was actively involved in church life—organizing suppers, leading CGIT, teaching Sunday School, arranging musicals, and helping run Vacation Bible School.
Beyond her church contributions, Jean enjoyed a vibrant social life. She bowled at Bowl-a-Rama for over 20 years, called Bingo for seniors at the Welland Senior Centre, line danced, arranged and led bus tours, and found great joy in tending to her flower beds.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Carle (Welland), Dr. Phan (Arbour Creek), and the dedicated medical staff and caregivers who provided Jean with compassionate care.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jean’s life at the Welland Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 827 East Main St., Welland, on Friday May 16, 2025 from 10:00 a.m until 12:00 p.m. A chapel service will follow. Interment at Doan’s Ridge Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to Alzheimer’s Soicety of Niagara Region would be greatly appreciated by the family.
