Obituary of Jorge Alberto Ochoa

Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, Jorge Alberto Ochoa passed into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on May 8, 2025 at the age of 66. Devoted husband of Marta (nee Alfaro) for 28 years.  Survived by siblings; Caty Cruz, Antonio Ochoa and Marta Rodriguez.

Jorge was born in El Salvador in 1959, and lived there until the age of 30. He immigrated to Canada in 1989.  He came in contact with the gospel in the year 1990 and was saved by grace in the year 1992. This was a joyful day in his life, he knew his sins were forgiven and knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his saviour.  He was part of the local assembly of Christians gathered to the name of the Lord Jesus. He was a quiet and humble man who sought to be a helper in the assembly and in the work of spreading the gospel among the Spanish speaking people in the area. 

Jorge was better known as “tio Beto” among his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who loved him very much. He enjoyed spending time with the family and leaves many enjoyable memories in the lives of those who loved him. In recent years he was able to travel to El Salvador to visit family and reunite with friends. The time spent in the home country left him with so many precious memories.  In his free time, he enjoyed working in his garden and spending time outdoors.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St., Welland, ON. The family invites relatives and friends to join them at the Welland Gospel Hall to honour Jorge’s life on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
