Obituary of Katherine Beaulieu
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Katherine Beaulieu (née Kirchmayer) on May 8th, 2025, at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Real Beaulieu and was the devoted mother to Richard and Rose Marie. Kay’s legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren Amanda (Amber), Justin, and Jessica, as well as her adored great-grandchildren Brierly, Elliot, and Finnegan. She was predeceased by her parents Johan Kirchmayer and Katarina (née Schnersch) and brothers Steve and James.
Katherine was born in 1929 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, shortly after her family arrived from Yugoslavia. She grew up during the Great Depression - a time that shaped her lifelong values of hard work, resilience and resourcefulness. Her family moved to Welland, Ontario where she later met her husband of 64 years and devoted herself to raising their two children. Her home was always a reflection of her heart - rooted in kindness, patience and strength. It was a place where family and friends were always welcome, and her love was felt in every embrace and home-cooked meal. She taught her grandchildren to love unconditionally and to laugh and smile without hesitation. Her memory will be carried forward with love and gratitude by all who knew her.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Katherine’s favourite niece Debb, for her unwavering love and compassion, and to all the staff at Gilmore Lodge for their support and care in her final years - especially “banker” Barb, whose dedication and kindness brought us all comfort.
The family will receive family and friends to celebrate Katherine’s life at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St. Welland, on Sunday June 1, 2025, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A chapel service will be held on Monday, June 2 , 2025, at 11:00am, burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family would like to invite friends and family to a luncheon from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Welland Legion, 383 Morningstar Ave following the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests you plant a tree in Katharine’s honour as part of the Ontario Reforestation Tree Planting Program.
