André (Andy) Fortier

February 25, 1942- May 5, 2025

 

It is with heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of André Fortier on Monday, May 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the St. Catharines Hospital. Andy was born in Montréal, Québec, and moved to Welland in 1951, where he built a life and a career. He worked at Canada Forgings for 37 years, earning the respect of colleagues and forming lifelong friendships along the way.

 

He is survived by the love of his life, Jeannette Dutka, with whom he shared a wonderful and fulfilling life. Andy will be forever cherished by his children: Michele Dutka (Rick), Stephen Dutka (Leanne), and Tammy Pawluk (Mike). He will forever hold a very special place in the hearts of his beloved grandchildren: Lily, Dahlia, and Andi. Andy will be deeply missed by his sisters, Cecile Lanteigne and Claire Dupont, as well as his sisters-in-law, Hugette Fortier and Elaine Goulet. His many nieces and nephews will also remember him with great affection. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Aimé and Laurence Fortier, his brothers, Leo and Ovila, and his sister, Annette.

 

Andy will be remembered for the love he gave, his strong work ethic, and the warmth he brought to those around him.

 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St., Welland. Following Andy’s wishes cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region are appreciated by the family.
