Obituary of George Romano
In Loving Memory of George Romano
February 14, 1951 – April 22, 2025
With broken hearts and deep love, the family of George Romano announces his peaceful passing on April 22, 2025, at the age of 74. George was a man whose life was defined by quiet strength, steady kindness, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
A lifelong resident of Welland, George spent his working years with the City of Welland Parks Department. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple things—driving his old car, the roar of his Harley-Davidson beneath him, and the open road stretching ahead.
More than anything, George was a family man. He was the devoted husband of Jocelyn ( née Storm) Romano, his constant companion and the love of his life for 54 years. He was a deeply loving father to Sherry (Doug) and Stephanie, always offering guidance, quiet support, and unconditional love. His pride in his children was only matched by the joy he found in being “Papa” to his grandchildren- Lenny (Tiffeny), Jacob, and Kaylyn—and great-granddaughters Sophia and Olivia, who brought light and laughter into his days. His legacy of love lives on in each of them.
George will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers Larry, Gerry, and John (Lesley), his sisters-in-law’s Liz and Lori, and many extended family members and friends. He is reunited in peace with his parents Frank and Margaret, siblings Fran, Sharon, Frank, Raymond, and Buzz. All of whom he missed dearly.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate nurses and staff of the Welland Dialysis Unit, whose care and kindness brought great comfort.
Visitation will take place at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE on Monday April 28, 2025 from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday April 29, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Afterward, a Final Farewell Ride in George’s honor will take place, ending at The Welland Legion. Family and friends are invited to join the procession. We encourage all those who ride a motorcycle to do so.
In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory to the National Kidney Foundation are sincerely appreciated by the family.
George’s life was full of quiet purpose, deep love, and a gentle spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to be loved by him.
