Obituary of Matilde Guzzi
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Matilda Guzzi (née Marasco) on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the age of 98 years old. Devoted wife of late Vincenzo Guzzi (2017). Loving mother of Joseph (Rita), Mary (Andy Morrison), and John (Karen). Predeceased by her infant daughter Gina. Nonna will be forever in the hearts of her 7 granddaughters: Suzanna and Jennifer Guzzi, Stephanie, Melissa and Emily Morrison, Tina (Nico Renou) and Sonya (German Garcia) Guzzi. Cherished bisnonna of Fiona, Eva and Joseph Arcuri, and Callie Grundy. Dear sister of the late Antonio (late Rosa Maria) Marasco, late Bernardo (late Franca) Marasco, late Cesare (late Teresa) Marasco, late Vincenzo (late Marietta) Marasco, late Rosa Marasco, and late Angelina (late Gino) Brigante. Sister-in-law to Titina (late Michele) Domiano, Matilde (late Antonio) Pane, Carmelina (late Italo) Boggio, Ida (late Gino) Marasco, Alfredo (Carmelina) Guzzi, and John (Paola) Guzzi.
Born in Decollatura, Italy to Joseph and Maria Marasco in 1927. Matilda immigrated to Canada in 1953. Matilda was a beautiful, thoughtful, devoted, loving wife and mother who loved cooking and gardening. She will be greatly missed. A special thanks to Dr. R. The family invites relatives and friends to join in celebrating Matilda’s life at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main St., Welland on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 4 St. Andrews Ave., Welland on Friday, March 7, at 11:00a.m. Entombment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the SickKids Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
