Obituary of Jacqueline Marie-Eveline Munderich
Jacqueline Marie-Eveline Munderich (née Samuel) passed away peacefully with her two sons at her side on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the age of 82. She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Horst (George) Munderich. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Richard, daughter-in-law Susan, and grandchildren Erik and Carl, as well as her son Samuel, daughter-in-law Heather, and grandchildren Hannah and Nathan. Jacqueline will be missed by her siblings Robert, Lucien, and Louise as well as numerous other extended family members and friends. She is predeceased by her parents Raymond and Madeleine and her siblings Jacques, Claire, André, Marcel, and Claudette.
Born in Rouyn-Noranda, Québec, on March 19, 1942, Jacqueline graduated with distinction from the Nursing Program at Laval University in 1963. She was in her element working at the Welland Hospital where she was known for her energy, competence, and friendly demeanor. She stood out for wearing her white nurse’s dress and cap throughout her career spanning over 40 years. After her retirement, Jacqueline continued to share her nursing knowledge by teaching at Niagara College and working at Foyer Richelieu. She loved to travel and looked forward to monthly coffee dates with her nursing friends.
Jacqueline was proud of her children and grandchildren. Family was important to her, and she enjoyed marking special moments in people’s lives. Whether you were a friend, close family member, or distant relative, you could count on a card arriving in the mail to let you know she was thinking of you. Jacqueline was devoted to her church and community. As an active member of the Filles d’Isabelle (Cercle #1337), Jacqueline rose to the position of Régente. An avid backyard bird watcher and home horticulturist, Jacqueline had a knack for attracting birds (her favourites being hummingbirds) and growing plants indoors. Those who knew Jacqueline will remember her for her authentic personality, hospitality, and generosity.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE. A funeral mass will be held at Église Sacré-Coeur in Welland on March 22, 2025, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations made to The Heart and Stoke Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
